Nevada Brining Company Deli Style Pickle Garlic & Dill

Image
Nevada Brining Company Handcrafted in the Silver State Deli Style Pickle Garlic & Dill --- Flavor: 6/10 Texture: 8/10 --- The dill flavor is really strong in these and I like it. The vinegar is pretty mild and they seem like they could use more salt, but not a bad pickle on their own.

Sonoma Brinery Fresh Pickles The Wedge Dill Spears

Image
Sonoma Brinery All Natural Fresh Pickles The Wedge Dill Spears --- Flavor: 6/10 Texture: 8/10 --- Another Sonoma pickle, gotta compare them to each other while we're here right?! These have a strong flavor, celery seed maybe? The texture is still really cucumber so it has a nice crunch. The skin is consistent, not too soft and not to firm, it doesn't separate from the pickle meat which I like. I like them more than the whole pickles.

Sonoma Brinery Fresh Pickles Manhattan Style Whole Koshers

Sonoma Brinery Natural Probiotic Raw Barrel Fermented Fresh Pickles Manhattan Style Whole Koshers --- Flavor: 6/10 Texture: 5/10 --- Another fermented pickle! This label confirms my thinking that fermented pickles are fridge style pickles and canned/pickled pickles are shelf stable. I sorta wish I had divided them up into  two categories now on their own scales because they have different approaches to being a pickle. The photos are different for these because I got to try them IN California with my friend during a trip we went on to Yosemite! Texture of skin is a little tough but the meat is really good though. I'd like to try them peeled.  The seeds separate from meat and give it a nice texture. I don't like sushi fish eggs and boba but thats sort of the feel these gave me and I liked it. Garlic flavor with onion sort of like a claussen. Doesn't have a spicy pepper flavor despite the pepper being in the container.

Good & Gather Organic Kosher Dill Spears

Good & Gather Organic Kosher Dill Spears --- Flavor: 6/10 Texture: 7/10 --- When I tried these I think there may have been some bias, because there was nothing special about them but the first thing that came to my mind was "tasty". I think i'm just craving a pickle right now cause there's nothing special but I am really enjoying them and I can't describe why or what about them, just tasty. No special flavor or texture but I guess I'll rate them higher than 5 because they hit the spot.

Baby Pickles (in brine) Castraveti insaramura Livada

Baby Pickles (in brine)  Castraveti insaramura  Livada --- Flavor: n/a Texture:n/a --- I was excited to try these because of the writing alone. They look like they stole the Disney for their jar and I found that really funny. When I sent to photograph them I noticed a slimy white coating on all of the pickles and that made me nervous. Like maybe these were supposed to be kept in a refrigerator and someone didn't understand and put them on a shelf? (I see this alot with Claussen pickles where they are supposed to be in a fridge and are on the regular pickle shelf instead, easy mistake but a dangerous one)  Did not want to risk safety so I disposed of these and didn't try them.

Ba-Tampte “Means Tasty” Deli Wholes Kosher Dill

Image
Ba-Tampte “Means Tasty” Deli Wholes Kosher Dill --- Flavor: 6/10 Texture: 9/10 --- Wants to be a claussen but doesn’t have the bite of vinegar. There is maybe a black peppery but no spice, other than that they are sort of bland. Very cucumber flavor. The seeds are not noticeable as different texture from the meat. Bland flavor like it wants to be stuff. It’s a cucumber cosplaying as a pickle. Gives off the vibes that you took a cucumber and stuck it into a jar of pickles and let it sit for a little bit so it wasn’t necessarily pickled with the pickles but it was a cucumber that you stuck in the juice so it has absorb some. It’s a shame cause the texture was great and I like it a lot.

Jaemor Farms Moonshine Pickles

Image
Jaemor Farms Moonshine Pickles --- Flavor: 1/10 Texture: 7/10 --- These were a gift from a friend of mine and I decided   to give them a try even though I suspected that “Moonshine” means they’re sweet. They don’t say it on the jar, but the other moonshine ones I had were sweet. After the other terrible pickles I tried I figured I’d give these a chance. They were sweet so I didn’t care for the flavor, but the texture was quite enjoyable. I wish they had been dill cause I rated the texture pretty well.

Aokappa By Appointment to His Majesty the Emperor Pickled Cucumbers

Image
Aokappa By Appointment to His Majesty the Emperor Pickled Cucumbers --- Flavor: 1 or 0 /10 Texture: 6/10 --- Possibly the worst pickled I have ever tasted. The cucumber taste seamed taste fishy, like licking a gold fish. While trying to eat it there is a semi-sweet taste at the end, it tastes somehow salty and somehow not? Really hard to describe. They had an oily taste, like eating a spoonful of olive oil alone.   Would never eat again. I like them less the sweet pickles, I would at ajar of sweet pickles over another one of these. I am wondering if they went bad due to travel or if there are extra steps in prepping them or something, because I can’t imagine a pickle being this bad.
